CBD and honey are known for their anti-inflammatory properties – so Ikone Beyoncé uses their power for the well-being of her and her family.
If we want to emulate anyone, it has to be the queen herself, Beyoncé.
And while Lockdown might make us feel like walking the streets to ‘lemonade’ with a baseball bat, Bey’s lockdown rituals were actually much more relaxed.
Note: Verrrry relaxed.

Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar, she says: “During the quarantine, I went from over indulgence to positive rituals that drew from previous generations and gave things my own touch.”
“I discovered CBD on my last tour and experienced its benefits for pain and inflammation. It has helped me with my restless nights and the excitement that arises when I cannot fall asleep. “
“I have found healing properties in honey that I and my children can benefit from. And now I’m building a hemp and honey farm. I even have beehives on my roof! And I am so happy that my daughters have the example of these rituals from me. “
You heard that right – right from your mouth to your ears – hemp and honey were keys to her (and her family’s) wellbeing.
Why? You might ask.
There is actually a lot of research out there suggesting that they can work wonders for the body.
CBD, or cannabidiol, has been approved for use in Australia and is actually available online in low doses. It comes from the cannabis plant and occurs naturally. If you want a higher dose of CBD, you need to speak to a doctor.
Dr. Vicki Kotsirilos is a general practitioner and alternative practitioner for integrative medicine. She became Australia’s first authorized general practitioner for medical cannabis in 2019.
“It comes from the cannabis plant and therefore occurs naturally,” she told Body + Soul.
She says cannabis contains two key components – THC and CBD. It’s the THC content of cannabis – not CBD – that gets you high. Best of all, CBD can be used for a number of reasons, including pain relief, to stop nausea, anxiety, and inflammation.
It’s also very low risk.
“In my experience it is relatively safe,” says Dr. Kotsirilos via CBD oil. “Side effects are fairly rare with CBD oil alone, but there are people who are very sensitive.” She says that people who are very sensitive may feel a little light-headed when using it.
But what about honey?
Raw honey (read: not necessarily what’s on your toast) has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antifungal properties that can help with common problems like wound healing and sore throats.
In fact, in 1999, Australian honey company Capilano registered MEDIHONEY with the Therapeutic Goods Administration to sell products for certain health reasons.
In recent years, many brands have incorporated both hemp and honey into wellness products – especially in the beauty industry.

Queen Bey doesn’t seem to be alone in her passion for these natural ingredients.
Along with the new honey and hemp obsession, she’s really getting back to basics, away from fad diets and towards a holistic approach to her wellbeing.
“In the past, I have spent too much time dieting, mistakenly believing that self-care means exercising, exercising and being too conscious of my body. My health, how I feel when I wake up in the morning, my peace of mind, how often I smile, what I feed my mind and body – these are the things I have focused on. “She told Harper’s Bazaar.
“Mental health is also about self-care. I am learning to break the cycle of poor health and neglect, focus my energy on my body, and heed the subtle signs it is giving me. Your body tells you everything it needs to know, but I had to learn to listen. It is a process of changing habits and looking past the bag of chips and the chaos everywhere! “
That definitely corresponds to the recommendations of our experts.
