Armed robber makes off with $1.three million value of hemp in Oceanside

An armed robber broke into a hemp flower wholesaler in Oceanside Wednesday night, confronted an employee and ran away with a $ 1.3 million product, Oceanside police said.

Someone called the police shortly before 6:40 p.m. to report that they had spotted at least one person outside the Cultivaris hemp store on Seagate Way, police spokeswoman Jennifer Atenza said.

The caller who was monitoring the security footage also said that he was unable to reach an employee in the store.

Police arrived and found that the thief – or thieves – had disabled the external surveillance cameras before entering the store. Once inside, they ran off with 4,000 pounds of hemp flower, which Atenza described as medical cannabis without THC.

“The deal was secured; they forced entry, ”she said. An employee who was in the store was confronted by the burglar (s) but not injured, she said.

Further details were not immediately available and suspicious descriptions were not made public.

Hemp is defined as a cannabis plant that contains 0.3 percent or less of THC, the chemical that primarily causes the “high” associated with marijuana. CBD or cannabidiol can be obtained from either plant.
