CBD canine house owners say Metropolis of Melbourne’s off-leash canine park plan would not go far sufficient

The City of Melbourne has announced it will introduce eight new off-leash dog parks, but dog owners in the CBD say the plan doesn’t go far enough.

Jo Peter, who’s a member of local dog group the Flagstaff Dog Pawrents, told Virginia Trioli on Mornings dog owners want more fenced-off parkland for their pets to enjoy.

“We have nowhere to go… we all live in apartments, half of us don’t have cars, and the closest off-leash fenced dog park is Clayton Reserve which is a good 30 minute walk on a good day,” she said.
