Police attended the incident on High St near Freyberg Place about 11.30pm on Friday, a spokesperson said.

A firearm was reportedly shot into the air in the scuffle.

One person allegedly assaulted during the incident was treated in hospital. The person was seriously injured, according to St John ambulance service.

Five men aged between 18 and 26 were arrested and charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, the police spokesperson said.
