Hemp Farming Sprawling Over 53 Acres Destroyed In Gajapati

Gajapati: Excise officials destroyed acres of ganja crops in the Mohana area of ​​Gajapati district on Sunday.

Following a lead, police and customs detectives raided the Mohana area and smashed cannabis grown on some 53 hectares of land.

The plants were later torched under active supervision to render them unusable.

The cost of cannabis is around 24 billion rupees, officials said.

Sources said cannabis growing in the hilly areas of Gajapati is making massive strides due to increasing demand among interstate drug traffickers.

On Saturday, a joint team from district police and excise officers destroyed ganja farms that stretched over 53 hectares in a forest in Mohana, Gajapati district.
