Midweek Melbourne Cash eating cashback has $4M left for individuals to eat in CBD as restrictions ease

Victorians have already spent $ 1 million of the fund on weekday dining after it was launched on Monday in time to ease most of the COVID-19 restrictions.

The Victorian Government and the City of Melbourne are jointly funding a number of initiatives to bring Melbourne’s CBD back to life, including the $ 5 million restaurant discount program during the week.

Starting November 15, guests can claim 30 percent of their bills – up to $ 150 – every week Monday through Thursday.

A huge million dollars has already been claimed, but there is still a lot of money out there.

The initiative will continue until the $ 5 million pool is depleted and is expected to gain momentum after the venue density caps are removed.

It applies to all restaurants, cafes and bars serving food throughout Melbourne City.

These include CBD, Lygon Street, North Melbourne, Southbank, South Wharf, and Docklands.

“Now that the density limits have been lifted, we are seeing a real sense of FOMO as people rush to book a weekday meal before the remaining $ 4 million is used up,” Mayor Sally Capp said in a statement.

Who can claim the meal discount

Melbourne CBD guests can claim back 30 percent of their bills, up to $ 150.

Guests must spend between $ 50 and $ 500 in a coffee shop, restaurant, or bar in the CBD between Monday and Thursday to qualify.

There is a maximum discount of $ 150 per customer for the entire program. This means that a single person cannot claim the discount twice.

The discount is available across the community including Southbank, Chinatown, Lygon Street, Docklands, North Melbourne, and Kensington.

How to claim up to $ 150

To take advantage of the 30 percent discount, guests must first pay for their meal in full.

When paying, be sure to ask for a detailed receipt with the name and ABN of the venue.

Guests can then take a photo or scan the receipt and upload it to the Melbourne Money website with their contact information and bank details.

The discount will be credited to the specified Australian bank account within five working days of the claim being approved.
