The File Delta | Native hemp firm to open storefront on Important Road

BUCKHANNON — Moon Flower, a seed-to-sale cannabis company in Upshur County, purchased the building at 46 East Main Street (formerly Jesterline) to open their first storefront.

Riley and Macie Queen, Buckhannon-natives, launched their company Moon Flower in May of 2019. Since opening, they have grown 20,000 hemp plants over the course of three grow seasons on their Upshur County farm. Once harvested, the hemp undergoes an extraction process, producing concentrated CBD oil. This oil is then made into edibles, tinctures, and topical salves to treat a large variety of ailments, including arthritis, joint pain, anxiety, insomnia, depression, nausea, etc. Portions of the harvest are saved, trimmed and sold as “smokeable product,” such as pre-rolled joints.

After nearly three years of selling their products online and in retail stores, the Queen sisters and their Moon Flower team will offer their cannabis products at their new location on East Main Street. “Our space will offer so much more than just our product,” explained Co-Owner Riley. “We want to create an environment for people to hang out, enjoy live-music, board games, poetry-slams, eat home-made edibles from our mini-bakery and educate themselves on the wonders of the hemp plant!”

The Queens and the Moon Flower team cannot wait to join the “Main Street family,” as the central strip in Buckhannon continues to flourish with new, unique spaces. Macie Queen, Co-Owner, added, “We were raised in Upshur County and we’ve seen Main Street flourish in so many ways over the years. We can’t wait to be a part of the progress, and to offer a one-of-a-kind spot for people to enjoy! Not only do we get the opportunity to provide relief through holistic medicine, but we get to play a role in making Buckhannon exciting and progressive. The building was moving into is large, so we will be able to house all of our facilities— like our lab, our kitchen, our shipping center, and even a grow room! We’re hoping that allowing guests and customers to see us in action will allow for a deeper understanding of the cannabis plant. We can’t wait!”

While their hopeful, tentative open date is April 20, 2022, they project their opening will be, at the latest, early summer. Until then, learn more about Moon Flower and order their products at www.MoonFlowerHemp.com.
