Three years after NETA opened the primary leisure hashish retailer in Massachusetts, the business is aggressive and evolving

On a cold and rainy day three years ago, a queue of about 100 people formed outside of NETA in Northampton, waiting to buy cannabis in town for the first time.

At the top of the line, Northampton Mayor David Narkewicz made the first purchase – a candy bar.

The excitement reached Northampton about two years after Massachusetts voters approved the legalization, regulation and taxation of cannabis on November 8, 2016. Legalization followed the approval of cannabis for medicinal purposes in 2012 and the decriminalization of small amounts of the plant in 2008.
