Chhattisgarh police on Sunday seized 700 kg of cannabis valued at 1.40 billion rupees and arrested two people in Mahasamund district who were transporting it from Odisha to Haryana.
Speaking to The Pioneer, Megha Tembhurkar, additional superintendent of the Mahasamund Police Department, said they were Nijakat Sakka, 28, and Rizwan Sakka, 20, both from Mewat, Haryana.
The action was taken after an indication that the contraband was being transported to Haryana on National Highway-44.
The police intercepted a truck at the gate of the Temri checkpoint. The cannabis was packed in 28 rubber bags and hidden under scrap, the official said.
